The E3 conferences have been and gone, but beforehand I made some predictions during Episode 4 on the GNamer Podcast and on the forum, along with two articles about Xbox IP’s we might see make a comeback at E3 and possible re-releases to be shown.
Did I get anything right? Well yes I did and here’s what:
In my Xbox IP article I predicted we would see something from Rare, maybe an old IP or even a re-release of the likes of Kameo. Well we’ve got the Rare Replay Collection coming which has 30 Classic Rare games on one disc, including Banjo, Conker, Perfect Dark, Kameo and my favourite of the bunch Viva Piñata. We might of also seen Quantum Redshift make a comeback from the old IP's; well it’s not but the Xbox One is getting a console exclusive in Quantum Rush: Champions which is close enough.
I did also think that Rare could have been bringing a new IP and a game not made for Kinect, and this we did get in the Pirate MMO Sea of Thieves.
Whilst were on new IP's, another one I thought beforehand which would be there was Guerrilla’s Action RPG with Robot Dinosaur’s and it delivered in the form of Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Sticking to Sony, we knew Media Molecule were working on something apart from Tearaway Unfolded, but I never dreamed it would be something like Dreams, which I honestly have no idea what it actually is, but it sure does look beautiful.
One from the Podcast, Call of Duty Black Op III, which as you will know if you listened to Episode 4, I was certain Sony would now be partnering with Activision with COD and its happening.
This one I wish I got wrong, and that’s the lack of Scalebound at E3, and it’s not long until it will be shown off at Gamescom in Germany. We also saw the PlayStation exclusive Platinum game, which turned up not as I thought at Sony, but at Square Enix as a new Nier game.
A disappointing but correct prediction was that the VITA would get less than 30 seconds at the Sony conference and I’m not even sure if it was that much, just a quick glimpse of Severed in a Sizzle Real was all there seemed to be.
Along with Animal Crossing, I was certain we would see Animal Crossing for the Wii U and we are with Amiibo Festival, but not an actual Animal Crossing game.
I was a little off with this next one; I had a feeling we would see something from Mother/EarthBound, I did think we would see Mother 3 from the GBA coming to the Wii U’s Virtual Console. It’s not at the moment, but we have now got Mother from the NES as EarthBound Beginnings, which can only please fans.
The only other thing I thought Nintendo would show that was announced beforehand was a new Paper Mario again, and we are sort of getting that with a crossover with the other Mario RPG series Mario & Luigi, in the form of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
There were a few other things, including Gears of War 1’s HD re-release Ultimate, which would be coming this year, not 2016 which would of been in line with its 10th anniversary and it includes a BETA for the 4th title, Square Enix would announce a new Hitman, which is coming this year and that I didn’t expect, there would be NO Titanfall 2 at EA’s conference, and the Destiny Expansion would be shown at Sony.
Of course I got many wrong as well, like not seeing The Last Guardian for another year, but I won’t go into what else I got wrong.
Hope you had a great E3 and did you predict anything right?
