I’m going to start off by saying my Game of the Year for the year that was 2015 is actually, A Hideo Kojima game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain which Luke decided to write about and you can check out his thoughts on that with this handy link.
Therefore I had to go for something else, we talked about our Top 5’s on Episode 9 of the Podcast so it only made sense to go for something from my list, the natural choice you would have thought would have been my second favourite game from 2015 which is Life is Strange.
Which is a phenomenal game but it’s hard to talk about without spoiling and it’s a game you really need to play yourself to get the emotional connection to the characters.
I only had one choice in the end for my GOTY, I’m going to take you back to late 2014 and Sony delays The Order: 1866 to come out early 2015.
The launch gets nearer and nearer with more adverts on TV for example, Sony are pushing this game to be the first big exclusive of 2015 for the PS4.
Then it comes out with mostly negative reviews, you can even checkout mine here.
It’s sold well considering but it left a sour taste, over the course of the year games such as Bloodborne come out which sold itself just on the Dark Soul's connection.
Then in August, Until Dawn came out with no adverts of any sort or any real push from Sony. Many think this is because of The Order & how that fared critically. With Until Dawn originally being a game for the PlayStation Move on the PS3 with nothing about it for years, people were worried about the game, from what I hear.
This means it was sent out to die, but just before the launch when reviewers & gaming personalities got their hands on it they started to stream it and with the games interactive nature along with being teen horror inspired, it really blew up on the internet where it was the most streamed game on YouTube at one point.
It was the surprise hit of 2015, even Shuhei Yoshida was surprised at how well it was received by gamer's around the world.
Until Dawn, due to MGS: V being taken, is my Gintendo Game of Year 2015 as who doesn’t love an underdog who no one thought would turn out to be a hit and actually a decent game, I’ve talked about the game before as I did review it, when it came out with can be found here. I’m not going to go into any more detail now with the game.
But should you play it and the answer is...
